Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge sat down with LFC TV to name his Best XI consisting of current and former teammates as well as opponents.
Given that he spent much of his formative years at Stamford Bridge, his picks are, unsurprisingly, dominated by Chelsea players. D-Studge also gives some shoutouts to opponents he remembers from international play, including recently-retired Andrea Pirlo and Thiago Silva.
Sturridge only names one Liverpool player to his team: former Reds captain Steven Gerrard.
Also unsurprisingly, Sturridge’s 4-2-4 setup makes room for Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Studge takes a few moments to defend his pick for CR7, given his ties to Manchester United. (Frankly, I think his pick of John Terry was more controversial than this one, but to each their own.)
Here’s the full teamsheet:
GK: Petr Cech
DEF: Ashley Cole, Thiago Silva, Vincent Kompany, John Terry
MID: Steven Gerrard, Andrea Pirlo
FWD: Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Nicolas Anelka, Didier Drogba
