Liverpool’s Sheyi Ojo is facing a months-long spell on the sidelines after appearing to dislocate his shoulder while on duty for Fulham. The 20-year old winger, who had to be stretchered off during the Cottagers’ match against Queens Park Rangers, is expected to be out for the remainder of 2017 after making 6 appearances in the Championship thus far.
Ojo had made some impressive strides forward after Jürgen Klopp’s appointment, but his development has recently seemingly slowed, with the winger being overshadowed by some of his Academy counterparts. Liverpool had hoped that an extended spell of consistent appearances at Fulham might reignite the spark, but that appears unlikely now, and the player may return to Melwood to continue his recovery.
The injury was confirmed by Fulham manager Slaviša Jokanović, who noted ruefully after the match that “[w]e are not lucky this start of the season. We have one player more in the hospital.” It would have been particularly bitter and unlucky for Ojo, who had made a bright start to the match, but ended up likely playing his last competitive match of the year.
