After Burnley manager Sean Dyche set off a bit of a panic with an ambiguous comment about on-loan Jon Flanagan yesterday, Liverpool fans were quick to question the fullback’s immediate and long-term future. While his eventual destination is still up in the air, his current position has been reassured by the journalists who rushed to the scene.
Flanagan will not have his season long loan spell cut short, according to Burnley reporter Chris Bogden and then The Echo. Bogden tweeted that the 24-year-old “will be staying with Burnley to the end of the season as per his loan arrangement.”
That just about settles things for the defender, who probably didn’t expect to be at the center of a mini transfer frenzy during this window. It’s probably a good thing for his career that he’ll get another half season to crack Burnley’s starting eleven rather than the alternative fate of being stuck with Liverpool’s reserves.
