Jon Flanagan joined newly-promoted Burnley this campaign, but sadly the move hasn’t been great for the Scouse fullback. Flanno has just 314 league minutes to his name, spread out over 5 appearances (only three of which were starts).
His progress has been hampered by—surprise!—a nagging knee injury. Flanagan, of course, is no stranger to knee injuries. His Liverpool career was stopped in its tracks by a year and a half of on-going knee-related issues.
“It takes time to come through injuries, we’ve seen that with Vokesy (Sam Vokes), he’s looking a different player now compared to six months after his injury,” Burnley boss Sean Dyche said about Flanagan.
“We knew there’d be an adaptation period for Flanno. He knows about the players now and how we operate as a team, on the training pitch and I think that’s done him some good so he’s closer to where he wants to be.
“We’ll monitor his situation and him with us.”
Hopefully Flanno can continue at Burnley, considering his playing time is unlikely to improve with the Clynebot 3000 sucking up all the league minutes. Though, that said, it’s not like his current loan has worked out either. Whatever happens to him over the window, hopefully he can find his legs (knees and all) with a good run somewhere.
