It’s not totally uncommon, for the club to pull out all the stops to get players back in time for major matches. Most recently, Liverpool split the cost of a private jet with four other clubs to ensure the hasty return of duo Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino from Brazil duty back in November. Once news of Senegal’s defeat to Cameroon during the AFCON broke, the next question was how soon would pivotal winger Sadio Mané be able to return to Liverpool?
As soon as possible, it appears, as The Telegraph is reporting that Fenway Sports Group have arranged for a private jet to bring Mané back in short order to hopefully get him ready for the clash against Chelsea when they visit Anfield on Tuesday.
It remains to be seen in what condition the winger will be in when he arrives, having just played 120 minutes on Saturday and reeling from the crushing defeat during a penalty shoot out. The hopes are that with the quick return, he will hopefully be able to at least appear on the bench on Tuesday, if not as a starter.
It wouldn’t be far-fetched to say, though, that Mané has been missed, considering Liverpool have only won once since he departed for the ACON and are now facing the struggle of keeping top four hopes alive, at the very least. The sooner he can return to league form, the better.
