Entering this weekend, some Liverpool supporters might have been happy with a point from an early 2017 visit to Old Trafford. Manchester United have been in irrepressible form, while Liverpool have, uh, not. A win for Liverpool would have seen them keep Chelsea within striking distance, while a loss would have allowed United to close the gap with Jürgen Klopp's side. In the end, the result was not enough to really help or hurt either club.
Liverpool came with a clear plan, and despite being put under pressure by the hosts for stretches, did well bending but not breaking. Once they seized the advantage courtesy of a James Milner penalty, the three points were tantalizingly within reach, especially as United seemed determined to waste their opportunities and Simon Mignolet took care of the rest. The calls just wouldn't go the way of the Reds, and Ibrahimovic was able to rescue a point for Mourinho.
Now let us know how you saw it. Hitting the thumbs up button is a vote to move the player up the list—or to help keep them on top. Hitting thumbs down is a vote to push that player closer to the bottom. It's half man of the match poll and half power ranking, and we want to use it to find out who you think played well after each Liverpool match and, at the other end, who you'd maybe like to see given the next game off.
