Mario Balotelli and Mamadou Sakho have gotten the Liverpool headlines today, and there have even been a few scraps for Lazar Mrkovic fanatics to sustain themselves on. When it comes to 23-year-old defender Tiago Ilori, though, news has been quiet.
Word from local sources in Granada, though, claim that the Spanish club have a short list of three defenders they are considering on deadline day and the club expect to complete a deal for at least one of them before the transfer window shuts tonight.
Those three are Stoke City’s Marc Muniesa, Calencia’s Ruben Vezo, and Liverpool’s Ilori. Key in negotiations will be a desire to not spend significantly more than €3.5M on bringing in the central defender the La Liga club feel they desperately need.
Ilori arrived in Liverpool three summers ago in a £7M deal from Sporting CP, but since then he has failed to make an impression at Anfield and looks no closer to the first team today than when he arrived. He has spent most of his time at the club out on loan.
He even spent a short spell at Granada in 2014, when he made four appearances in the autumn of 2014. The Spanish club, though, have left it very late to get a deal done—especially given they are still reportedly considering multiple options.
