Liverpool are back in action, everybody! Liverpool begin a sequence of nine friendlies to prepare for Jürgen Klopp's first full season in charge with a local affair. Tranmere Rovers is the first of four games against lower league opposition before a sequence of five games against top-flight English, Italian, Spanish, and German teams. This summer heralds what could be a time of fundamental change for Merseyside's finest.

What's most exciting is a chance to see some fresh faces represent Liverpool for the very first time. Liverpool's four new signings this summer—Loris Karius, Joël Matip, Marko Grujić, and Sadio Mané have been involved in pre-season training this week. All four could feature against a side from the National League, English football's fifth-tier league. Danny Ings, Roberto Firmino, Dejan Lovren, Lucas Leiva, and Alberto Moreno have been also training at Melwood over the past week.

Liverpool will be without a number of senior players due to Euro 2016 and Copa América commitments this summer. As for Sheyi Ojo, he has England youth international business to take care before venturing into the preparatory land of pre-season matches. As for the managers in the dugout, Klopp has made a huge commitment to Liverpool by signing a six-year contract extension. Gary Brabin, the man tasked with guiding his side to an upset this evening, has been in charge since May 2015 and has recently been joined by an ex-teammate as the club's new assistant manager.

At this stage, results are far less important than building up fitness. Liverpool should win the game comfortably, but the goal is clear: be prepared for the trip to Arsenal next month.
