Liverpool's pre-season campaign continues with a trip to the DW Stadium to play Wigan Athletic on Sunday afternoon (or morning, depending on your time zone). After exciting results gained from visits to Tranmere and Fleetwood Town, our lads should be riding the summer high that is out of the league friendlies. Whereas Wigan will be fresh off a 2-0 loss to Manchester United two days ago. Summer can be a cruel mistress.

This will be the first time Wigan has met Liverpool for a pre-season friendly, but the last time the teams met was in the Premier League on the tail end of the 2012/2013 season. Liverpool traveled to the DW Stadium and showed Wigan who was boss with a 4-0 victory, although all those goals were scored by players who have since departed, including a certain Luisito. Can we look forward to another 5-0 victory? Maybe? I’m knocking on wood for another Lucas goal. A girl can dream.
