Last week, it seemed that Liverpool center-back Martin Skrtel was on his way to Fenerbahce. Today, Italian journalists are instead insisting that the Liverpool defender is set to sign a three year deal with Serie A side AS Roma.
Emanuele Giulianelli, a journalist who writes for Italy's Gazzetta dello Sport, among others, broke the news on Twitter this morning.
Roma have reached an agreement for Skrtel. 3 years contract for the Slovak former Liverpool defender.

If this is true, it's good news for Liverpool, who are looking to move Skrtel on to make room on the roster, as well as good news for the player. The 31-year-old Skrtel will once again have the opportunity to play Champion's League football, since the Italian club qualified for the competition last season. Serie A may also prove a better fit for the aggressive center-back, who often found himself floundering against the speed of Premier League opposition in recent seasons.
Whatever happens, it seems clear that after making 320 appearances for Liverpool, Martin Skrtel will no longer be playing for Jürgen Klopp's team come 1 September.
