The young Serbian starlet Marko Grujic spent last season helping Red Star Belgrade clinch the Serbian SuperLiga title with an impressive unbeaten domestic campaign. Now that the season has ended, Grujic is on his way to Liverpool to join Jürgen Klopp's Reds for pre-season.
Recently, he opened up about his reactions to receiving a call from Klopp and getting the chance to play with Liverpool in the Premier League.
"It was one of the most beautiful days in my life," he recalls. "When my representatives told me that I had a call from someone, I didn’t dream that on the other side of the line would be Jürgen Klopp.
"At first I was confused a little bit when I saw I had a call from England. How should I feel when I’ve only seen or heard him only on TV until that point? I was both happy and confused.
"After that it was a big euphoria. It was nice, but but after that I’ve been a little tired after a lot of stories in the media. Now, though, I have signed for one of the biggest clubs in the world and I’m very satisfied. I am living a dream that every boy wants to live."
On being given the opportunity to play for Liverpool, Grujic had more praise to heap on his new club's fans, saying, "
"I know that Liverpool fans are some of the best fans in the world and one of the most numerous. Since I signed, they have been very active on Instagram and we’ve been in contact. Players have support from the fans and you can see how much they love the club."
Er, no one tell him what social media is like if he isn't doing well.
It's good to see the awe in which players from other teams speak of Klopp. It will be nice to have a manager whose name and reputation help lure in European talent. Hopefully these first three signings that Klopp has made will be the beginning of a productive and fruitful summer in the transfer market.
