19-year-old Spanish midfielder Sergi Canos has returned to Liverpool after a successful loan spell with Championship side Brentford. He notched seven goal in thirty-nine appearances with the club, along with winning the club's goal of the season for his strike against Reading. The youngster is back in Liverpool and will begin training at Melwood this week.
Jürgen Klopp was asked about the player after Liverpool played out a 1-1 draw against Chelsea on Wednesday. The manager expressed his pleasure in his development over the season, in typically cheerful Klopp fashion. With European qualification still up for grabs, it's unlikely but not impossible that Canos will play a part in the team's final league match on Sunday. Still, Klopp hinted that he may be in contention to make the bench.
"The earliest plan is that he will be in training tomorrow because he is back," Klopp said. "I learn more and more about English football and it’s possible that he is available for Sunday. It’s unbelievable and great. Now we will see how he feels, how he is. He did really well at Brentford. He scored in the last game and had a lot of time to play. For him it was really good to be there. The Championship is quite a strong league and for young players it is really difficult to go through, but he did well."
