Mamadou Sakho has been a key defensive fixture for Liverpool, but it's was his goalscoring exploits against Borussia Dortmund and Everton that stood out for fans of the club over past couple of weeks.
After his goal against Everton on Wednesday, he ran to celebrate with Kolo Toure on the sidelines. For people confused about the maneuver and still wanting to talk about the greatness of Sakho scoring goals, he provided an incredibly reasonable explanation.
"Kolo told me this morning I would score again so that's why when I scored I thought of him and ran to celebrate with him," Sakho explained.
But as usual, the defender spoke more about fans and the team than himself.
"It was a very, very good atmosphere, a very good result for us, and I think we deserved it because we played very well," Sakho said about Anfield during the Everton match. "The 12th player was with us - the fans. It was a really good night for Liverpool."
Still, he cautioned the Reds not to let their recent success get to their heads.
"We need to stay focused for every game because this year is not finished and we need to work," he said. "We need to enjoy tonight but after [that] we need to stay focused because in football every game is different and we need a positive result in the next game."
