Daniel Sturridge combined with 120 minutes of football was always likely to see the injury-prone striker pick up another knock, and that might have been the case again after Sunday's League Cup Final.
The England international complained of cramps after extra time, thus ruling him out from taking penalties. Hopefully those cramps were just cramps, but the training staff is taking added precautions given his history.
"Daniel had cramp so we will see how he is. I don't want to take any risks," Klopp explained in his pre-match press conference.
However, according to The Echo, Sturridge was out for Tuesday's afternoon training session, and looked good in sprints. That said, even if Sturridge is available tonight, a case could be made to bring him off the bench considering his recent heavy workload.
In other injury news, both Dejan Lovren and Martin Skrtel have returned to training. One of the two center backs might need to be ready for an earlier-than-expected return because Mamadou Sakho gave himself a concussion, and Lucas Leiva missed training due to an unspecified knock.
