After their resounding victory in the Europa League round of 16 first leg at Anfield, Emre Can talks about finally beating Manchester United in a Liverpool shirt.

"It was an incredible night," Can said. "We created a lot of chances, we scored two goals and kept a clean sheet so we're happy. The team played very well. The first half was very good. The second half was more difficult. At times we didn't press as well as we should have done.

"But it's a great scoreline for us to take into the second leg and we need to keep going like that at Old Trafford. We have to keep it up if we're going to go through. We need to play like we did in that first half. De Gea is a very good goalkeeper and he made some great saves."

Despite the whole team having a good game, Can found some room for improvement in his own performance on Thursday.

"I made a few mistakes," he added. "I have to play better but I feel like I'm developing as a player under Jürgen Klopp. I know the boss is behind me. I want to improve every day and I always give my best for the team."

Liverpool have a break this weekend, but he'll have his chance next Thursday when Liverpool travel to Old Trafford in the second leg to defend their lead against United and earn a place in the quarter-finals.
