More sad news for Liverpool's young players came out of Melwood on Tuesday. First Joe Gomez tore his ACL in October, taking him out of contention for the season, then Jordan Rossiter missed most of the season with various injuries, and now Kevin Stewart may be facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
This is terrible timing for the 22-year-old midfielder who recently broke into the Liverpool first team. On Sunday, he made his league debut in Liverpool's 6-0 annihilation of Aston Villa. However, he will no longer be traveling to Germany with the team after turning his ankle in training. The fear is that he has torn some ligaments, and the player is awaiting results of a scan to see the extent of the damage.
About this incident, Klopp said, "We lost Kevin Stewart in training. He blocked a shot and his ankle was not stable. It was a bit bruised so we have sent him for a scan. We think it’s the ligament. He trained outstandingly and then this happened. That’s not too good."
With luck, the injury won't prove that serious for the player, and fans will get to see more of him before the season's end.
