Two wins and a draw are what Adam Lallana has missed since suffering a groin injury on England duty. But, the wily, Liverpool attacker has resumed training with the team this week with an eye towards grabbing a spot in the line-up against Bournemouth. Certainly, this Liverpool side has looked much better this season with Lallana’s high-intensity pressing and intelligent touches in the final third.

Jürgen Klopp provided an update today on Lallana’s progress. But, would not rush a decision on the ex-Southampton man’s inclusion in the Sunday squad.

“Adam is training,” said Klopp. “Yesterday was the first session. He looked good. But, of course, we need to see how he reacts to the intensity of the training. Yesterday was quite intense for him, I think. But, having him back is good.”

The manager was more positive about the situation with Roberto Firmino who picked up a calf injury in the match against Sunderland last weekend.

“Roberto trained yesterday, too,” said Klopp. “There’s still a little bit of pain. It’s painful but not that serious.

“When you can deal with the pain then everything is fine. He’s quite a tough guy. He came through the session yesterday. We’ll have to see how he reacts.”

Daniel Sturridge misses out all together, unfortunately, having to nurse his own calf injury. The England striker has not returned to full training with the team and there is no timeline set for his reintroduction. At this point, I think we can safely assume that Sturridge’s legs are being haunted by alien, leg-destroying ghosts.

I expect we’ll see a couple of the young faces on the bench in Bournemouth.
