Sadio Mané ran away with August’s player of the month honours, and Adam Lallana easily took September as Liverpool Offside readers voted overwhelmingly in favour of the clear standout performer in both months. On paper at least, October’s player of the month favourite should earn a similar consensus vote.
If Mané was the clear consensus choice for August and Lallana for September, Philippe Coutinho should be the man who walks away with this month’s honours after being named man of the match three times and only failing to finish in the top five in voting in Liverpool’s EFL Cup tie against Tottenham—that he didn’t play in.
Awarding five points for man of the match through to one for coming in fifth in post-match voting, Coutinho earned 18 points in October. Next best was Roberto Firmino, who won man of the match in the one league game Coutinho didn’t and earned 11 points. It’s a strong showing, but it should be no match for Coutinho’s.
Rounding out voting this month are Adam Lallana and Joel Matip with seven points apiece, followed by Sadio Mané with five and Daniel Sturridge—on the strength of his man of the match honours for his EFL Cup brace—also with five. The winner this month seems clear, but in the end the choice is up to you.
