The League One club are looking to secure a Manager Fantastic in Steven Gerrard.

With his little jaunt into Major League Soccer now over, ex-LA Galaxy person and Liverpool super-legend, Steven Gerrard, is free to do pretty much whatever he wants. He can do absolutely nothing. He can play on. He can coach. He can play and coach. He can do one of those motorcycle trips around the world with the girls if he wants to.

Certainly, the man has offers. We’ve already seen that he’s had a conversation with Jürgen Klopp concerning a coaching role at Liverpool. There was talk of Gerrard reuniting with Brendan Rodgers at Celtic FC to continue playing. Then reports came in that maybe Rafa Benitez was feeling a little jealous and offered Stevie a spot at Newcastle to help them secure promotion to the Premier League next season.

But, the new news is that League One basement dwellers, MK Dons, could use some of that famous Stevie G magic and are willing to accept the risk of hiring a man without the experience of club management in hopes that the Gerrard factor is enough.

Gerrard has not yet been awarded his UEFA A Licence but is actively working towards it. And there is even mention that Stevie could parley an appointment at MK Dons into a player-coach situation. Interesting, but I’m watching that one through covered eyes.

Talks are ongoing with MK Dons and their chairman Pete Winkelman is upbeat about the prospect of signing up Steven Gerrard, who now has some soul-searching to do. Play? Coach? Motorcycle trip? Ian Ayre is standing by.
