In the end, the scoreline flattered Tottenham. Or said that despite their generally solid play, Liverpool still need to work on their finishing. Regardless, it was the right result, and Liverpool are through to the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup thanks to some strong performances from a mix of youths and reserve players, the likes of Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge up top and Alberto Moreno and Trent Alexander-Arnold at the back leading the way.
