Liverpool Draw Blackburn in Fifth Round of FA Cup

Liverpool could not defeat West Ham yesterday in a tightly contested fourth round FA Cup match up, and a replay against the Hammers at Upton Park will take place on February 9th to determine which side advances. If the Reds manage to win that game they will face Blackburn in a fifth round away match, according to the draw that took place earlier today.

This was a kind draw for Liverpool with plenty of difficult potential match ups avoided. Blackburn has taken quite the plunge since they last played in the Premier League as they currently sit in 18th place in the Championship with relegation not out of the question.

There are some tasty draws elsewhere in the fifth round, including a Chelsea-Manchester City tilt. Tottenham will face Crystal Palace in another match up between Premier League teams, while Manchester United drew a lower league side in Shrewsbury Town.

The full list of fifth round FA Cup matches:

  • Chelsea vs. Manchester City
  • Reading vs. West Brom/Peterborough United
  • Watford vs. Leeds United
  • Arsenal vs. Hull City
  • Shrewsbury Town vs. Manchester United
  • Blackburn vs. West Ham/Liverpool
  • Tottenham vs. Crystal Palace
  • AFC Bournemouth vs. Everton
