Chatty Ings Believes He Can Learn From Daniel Sturridge

Danny Ings has been spending a lot of time saying all of the right things, most recently that he looks forward to learning from star Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge.

While most of the squad has gone off to play for their countries, new Liverpool striker Danny Ings has been left to hold down the fort at Melwood while his teammates are away. Ings made his debut with the first team last Saturday, when he was tasked with the thankless job of coming on for Roberto Firmino in the second half against West Ham in a game Liverpool were already losing by two goals.  He impressed with his enthusiasm, if nothing else, and proved that he was eager to make a place for himself in the team, even if it means fighting for lost causes.

Recently in an interview with the official site, Ings weighed in on how he's excited to get the chance to place with Liverpool star Danny Sturridge when he reaches full fitness. As of now, no date has been set for Sturridge's return, and the introduction of another striker into the mix will likely make it even harder for Ings to see game time in the league. However, Sturridge's minutes will have to be closely managed upon his return, and with the domestic cups and Europa League fast approaching, there will be no shortage of games for either player. Still, despite the competition, Ings believes that he'll be able to learn from Sturridge's in training and on the pitch, and is eager to work with him.

"He’s a fantastic striker, he scores many goals, he’s sharp, he works hard, so it will great to have him back," Ings said.

"He’s another player that I can learn from. He’s been doing it at the top level for many years now so it’s great to have him back and I’m looking forward to working with him.

"I think everybody here has different qualities as strikers and it’s only better for all of us to learn from each other - and especially for me to learn off them, the more experienced strikers here.

"It’s great to have so many good strikers at the club for me to learn from."

Sturridge is a force to be reckoned with, a fast, clever, technically-gifted center forward, and Ings would do well to take a few notes from his book, so long as he skips the chapters on maintaining match fitness.
