The 18-year-old, who scored the final goal of Liverpool's preseason campaign on Sunday, has today put pen to paper on a new five year deal that will see him tied to the club until 2020. With the ink barely even dry, the England U18 international then found himself on the move as he officially completed the much-touted loan move to Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he'll spend the 2015/16 season. The news comes just a day after Wolves manager Kenny Jackett confirmed his interest in the talented young winger.
The forward, who joined the Reds from MK Dons in 2011, will have an eye on gaining some vital first-team experience as he approaches a crucial stage in his development. After spending the latter half of last season on loan at Wigan Athletic, where he made 11 appearances for the Latics in all, Ojo will now be hoping for a more regular starting berth at the Molineux. We now know he'll be playing alongside Cardiff City striker Adam Le Fondre, who also joined the club on loan on Monday.
"It's a great feeling," Ojo said of his impending switch, "I'm looking forward to the upcoming season; hopefully we can have a good year and push for promotion. It's a really good club and it's got great facilities. All of the players are nice, they have welcomed me to the club and the staff are brilliant as well. Everything's going well, I'm just looking forward to starting the season at the weekend."
Ojo was named amongst Liverpool's substitutes on two occasions last season but failed to make a competitive appearance. If he can put together a positive campaign at Wolves, Reds fans will be buoyed by his potential as the next great hope to come out of the Academy in the wake of Raheem Sterling's departure to Manchester City last month.
