Saturday Open Thread: Lowering Your Standards Edition

Another weak slate of Premier League matches to follow on a Saturday with few highlights in England and beyond.

This is not a particularly enjoyable day in England's top flight, with a smattering of less than attractive fixtures on tap. The most that can be hoped for is West Ham to take points off Arsenal at the Emirates (3:00PM GMT/11:00AM EDT), but outside of that there's few relevant or intriguing matches from a Liverpool perspective. Down in the Championship there should be chances for both Joao Teixeira and Sheyi Ojo to feature for their loan sides against Huddersfield Town and Rotherham United (3:00PM GMT/11:00AM EDT), respectively, while Lloyd Jones could make an appearance for Accrington Stanley against Burton Albion at the same time.

The main highlight on the day should come from the Bundesliga, where free-scoring Bas Dost and Wolfsburg host Bayern Munich (2:30 GMT/12:30PM EDT). A win for the hosts here could cut the gap to eight points, which is totally closer than it sounds. But probably not. Werder Bremen host Bayern Munich in a match that probably isn't going to be very good, but initially seemed attractive because reading comprehension is hard.
