With possible dates for Liverpool’s sixth round FA Cup replay limited to April 7th or 8th, there weren’t a lot of options to choose from. For those for whom a day either way might make a world of difference, though, the date has now been confirmed, and Liverpool will travel to Ewood park to face Blackburn on Wednesday, April 8th.
As expected for a med-week cup tie, the match will kick off at 7:45PM GMT. Fans and the two clubs will be forced to wait a month for the replay due to the Champions League being played this and next week followed by an international break. Rules stipulate that domestic matches cannot be scheduled mid-week when there are Champions League games being played.
So far, Liverpool have defeated AFC Wimbledon by a 2-1 margin on the road, Bolton in a replay by a 2-1 margin on the road, and Crystal Palace by a 2-1 margin on the road. Their first match against Bolton, at Anfield, ended in a 0-0 draw. If that pattern continues and Liverpool advance on April 8th, they will travel to Wembley to face Aston Villa on April 18th or 19th.
That were are only ten days between their replay against Blackburn and a potential semi-final in London makes for a less than ideal situation for any supporters who might be planning to head to Wembley should Liverpool make it that far.
