Liverpool secured a two-legged Capital One Cup semi-final against Stoke City after thrashing Southampton last week, adding to a what looks to be a busy January schedule. Jürgen Klopp and his player now know the identity of their FA Cup third round opponents after the draw was made.
In the dress rehearsal, Merseyside's finest drew Leicester City, which was ball number 22. Liverpool—ball number 23-drew ball number 51, which was allocated to League Two Exeter City. Liverpool will travel to St James Park to face Paul Tisdale's side.
The two sides previously met in 2011 where Liverpool won 3-1 at St James Park to move into the third round of the League Cup. Currently 11th in League Two, Exeter defeated Port Vale to secure a glamour tie with the seven-time FA Cup winners.
The fashionable Paul Tisdale is the longest-serving manager in the Football League, having taken charge of Exeter in June 2006. In fact, only Arsenal's Arsène Wenger has been in a managerial position longer than Tisdale so Liverpool's prospective FA Cup opponents know a lot about stability.
The matches will be played between 8 and 11 January. For the curious and concerned, the match will take place between an away trip to Stoke in the first leg of Liverpool's Capital One Cup semi-final and a Premier League match against Arsenal at Anfield.
