Lovren To Undergo Scan Today

Although a quick return for the defender seems unlikely at this point, we should have a better idea of the extent of Dejan Lovren's injury after a medical scan today.

No single player better represented the defensive struggles and failed transfer strategy under the last regime as much as the £20 million Croatian defender, Dejan Lovren. And now, two months into Klopp's Anfield reign, no player better represents the improvements made from within than Dejan Lovren. Simply, it has been a Lovrenaissance.

Sadly, we must wait for the Lovrenaissance to continue, due to Craig Gardner's late-game Dark Ages-style challenge. From Lovren's excruciating reaction--painful even to watch--it was clear that this was likely a serious injury, and the copious blood running down his knee did not help to allay fears. Nor did the immediate application of an air cast. Nor did the sight of Lovren being carried off by stretcher.

Usually the medical staff tries to assess the damage as soon as possible, but the swelling to the area ruled out a Monday scan. All we know so far is that the defender required stitches, and that he's been using a device that combines ice and compression therapy whilst playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.

Luckily, Klopp will soon have the Caged Lion to unleash in defense, as Mamadou Sakho nears full fitness.
