They probably aren’t the only young attackers from the land of Samba who would pick the quasi-retired 35-year-old for such an honour, though they are amongst the most promising Brazilian players under 25—even if both were surprisingly snubbed and left in Liverpool for Brazil’s two World Cup qualifiers this month.

Agger is currently in the midst of his second season for Danish Superliga club Brondby, where he first came through as a youth player and spent two seasons at before moving to Liverpool in 2006. The six time league champions have had a rough start to the season and currently stand third with eight wins, six losses, and a draw to show for their efforts to date, while Agger has a pair of assists in ten appearances for them this season.

All of them? According to Physio Room, Liverpool currently have more injured players than any other Premier League side, with ten first team players out—enough to make a solid outfield side, even. At least if you’re good with an old-school 4-4-2:

Flanagan/ Toure/ Sakho/ Gomez
Ibe/ Henderson/ Rossiter/ Milner
Ings/ Sturridge

All of which makes for rather depressing reading, though the good news is that a lot of those players—Ibe, Toure, Sturridge, Rossiter, Milner, and Henderson—at least could be fit again following the international break.
