Raheem Sterling, Philippe Coutinho, and Lucas Leiva have been voted Player of the Month by Liverpool Offside readers for the months of September, October, and November. Now it’s time for you to decide who joins their ranks following a December that saw the club at least begin to inch in the right direction after a difficult start to the season.
A busy slate, with eight matches to sort through, means a lot of points handed out—five points for being named Man of the Match through to one point for finishing fifth in voting. Two players clearly separated themselves from the pack, though, as both Adam Lallana and Raheem Sterling finished in the top five in seven of those matches, with Lallana earning 27 points in total and Sterling earning 22.
Behind them, Philippe Coutinho earned 15, Lazar Markovic earned 12, and Lucas Leiva got 10. Steven Gerrard, Mamadou Sakho, and Alberto Moreno round the ballot out having received seven, seven, and six points respectively. While a few sentimental votes for Gerrard may be cast, in the end it looks like a clear race between the top two for Player of the Month honours this time around.
Of those two, Sterling was named Man of the Match on three occasions by Liverpool Offside readers last month. Lallana, on the other hand, was only top of the voting once, but finishing second on four other occasions helped him to earn five more points than Sterling over the course of the month. Now it’s up to you to decide which of them should be named Player of the Month for December.
