Brendan Rodgers hasn't chosen a vice captain yet, but there seem three candidates. Though fans are split on Martin Skrtel, Rodgers thought enough of the defender to hand him the armband whenever Steven Gerrard wasn't on the pitch during pre-season. Ahead of him, many fans would pick Jordan Henderson, who has increasingly taken on a leadership role on and off the pitch while establishing himself as one of the first names on the team sheet. Then, given how he handed the arm band to Luis Suarez in Gerrard's absence last season, one could make a case for Rodgers deciding to give the vice captaincy to Daniel Sturridge.
While none has yet been chosen, it's impossible to think of another player who Rodgers might realistically choose for the role, and handing it to a brand new signing seems highly unlikely.

It turns out that Liverpool made at least one signing over the summer that we missed completely. The player's name is Conor Masterson, he's from Dublin, and he'll cost Liverpool €1M when he heads to Merseyside—in three years. As to why it's taking him three years to get to Merseyside, it's because he's currently 13 years old and playing for local Dublin club Lucan United FC. He was also courted by Manchester City and United this summer but chose Liverpool as he was already a fan of the club.
In related news, we now feel a touch unclean. And old. Edit: Also, Liverpool did the deal in question for him two years ago now, which would actually make him 15 years old and a year away from arriving at Melwood. Though that doesn't make me feel much cleaner or younger.

Sticking to senior players, Liverpool signed nine players this summer: Rickie Lambert, Emre Can, Adam Lallana, Lazar Markovic, Dejan Lovren, Divock Origi, Javier Manquillo, Alberto Moreno, and Mario Balotelli. Origi headed straight back to Lille on loan, meaning eight new senior players were added to the squad. A handful of youth signings were also made, including bringing in Kevin Stewart and Lawrence Vigouroux from Tottenham and, most recently, signing Madger from Villarreal. Oh, and Conor Masterson. Who will be joining the academy in three years.
