Wednesday's loss at Brondby was a good chance to stretch the legs for those who weren't involved at the World Cup, and other than Tiago Ilori--who suffered a mild thigh injury--everyone came out unscathed. Today offers another chance for the youngsters and also-rans, and in the case of those who didn't make the 33-man squad for the US tour, it'll be the last chance to impress before the squad breaks up.

Those involved will face a Preston side that edged past Conference North side Chorley in their first preseason match, with goals from Scott Laird, Joe Garner, and Andy Little getting on the scoresheet. Premier League veteran Kevin Davies is in his second season with the League One side, and manager Simon Grayson is looking forward to the second meeting between the teams in as many years:

"It is going to be a big test for us, as it was last year when we played them, obviously we are really thankful to Brendan coming back and bringing his team over at the weekend. It shows how they enjoyed their game last year in terms of the crowd, the pitch and how well we played against them as well that they were on the phone to try and come back and it's great testament to our football club that we are managing to get Liverpool again."

Liverpool should line up in a fairly similar manner as against Brondby save for the loss of Ilori and the imminent sale of Fabio Borini; Brendan Rodgers might opt to give a few more of the academy names some minutes given their exclusion from the US tour, though it's just as easy to him going with more experience ahead of the traveling squad's departure on Sunday. What we know for sure is that today should afford us the first opportunity to see Emre Can and Rickie Lambert as Liverpool players, with the former fit to play after a minor ankle injury and the latter up to speed by virtue of coming back early from vacation.
