For fans heading out to see Liverpool on their pre-season American tour this year, the naming of the travelling squad today brings with it some good news: all of the club's World Cup stars and new signings will be expected to play at least some part in the tour, with the England contingent joining up as the squad head to Boston on Sunday.
Steven Gerrard, Daniel Sturridge, Glen Johnson, and new signings Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert will all travel with the team when they leave for Boston this weekend. Though the first match of the tour—against Roma next Wednesday—may come too soon for them, they will be expected to be ready to face Olympiacos on the 27th at the latest.
Spain goalkeeper Pepe Reina has also been named to the squad, and with Spain like England failing to advance from the group stages, he will also travel with the team on Sunday. Simon Mignolet and Mamadou Sakho have also been named to the squad and will join up before the end of the tour. New signings Lazar Markovic and Emre Can will be involved from the beginning.
The travelling squad in whole comprises:
Goalkeepers: Brad Jones, Simon Mignolet, Pepe Reina, Danny Ward
Defenders: Daniel Agger, Sebastian Coates, Jose Enrique, Jon Flanagan, Tiago Ilori, Glen Johnson, Martin Kelly, Jack Robinson, Mamadou Sakho, Martin Skrtel, Kolo Toure, Andre Wisdom
