Academy Updates: April 16th | March 19th | February 14th
With the season quickly winding down at the senior squad level, it's also time for second U21 Premier League campaign to draw to a close (before the format completely changes once again). The group stage--which included 22 teams and 16 from top-flight sides--came to a close for Liverpool on April 14th, and they finished just two points off regular season winners Chelsea. Like the senior squad, Alex Inglethorpe's side finished as league leaders in goals scored and played some impressive stuff, and they've now got a chance to advance to the playoff final.
They'll have to get past Manchester United, who finished three points back of Liverpool in third. There are plenty of familiar names in the Liverpool squad; Joao Teixeira's had a strong season, Rafa Paez, Lloyd Jones, and Brad Smith have featured regularly at the back, Jordan Rossiter has continued his impressive rise through the ranks (but isn't included today), Jack Dunn has scored five in five to finish the league season, and Kristoffer Peterson bagged a brace on two separate occasions over the season's final month. Cameron Brannagan has featured regularly as well.
Kickoff: 7:45PM BST/2:45PM EST
