Watch: Suso v. Espanyol

Liverpool's list of quality performances against Chelsea wasn't a long one, so this week we turn to La Liga for a bit of video while we check in on some of Liverpool's loanees.

Manuel Queimadelos Alonso

Having been in and out of the starting lineup of late, Suso began his day on the bench for Almeria when they took on Espanyol, but when he came on he was hugely influential in a right-sided creative role for the Spanish strugglers. His introduction changed the game, one Almeria had to win to keep their hopes alive, and his quick, incisive passing created multiple chances.

When his teammates couldn't convert, it fell to Suso to do so, and his free kick won the match late in the second half. With three games to go, the Andalusian side now sit 18th, two points from safety and chasing Getafe and Osasuna. Elche are three points ahead, but in Spain the first tie breaker is head to head—and Elche have a win and a draw against Almeria.

Elsewhere, Fabio Borini once again showed poise from the penalty spot as Sunderland defeated Cardiff to leapfrog their way into 17th and safety. With three matches left for on form Sunderland compared to two for the sides trailing them, the Black Cats are now strong favourites to survive, while Norwich City, Fulham, and Cardiff all look set for the Championship.

Tiago Ilori and Andre Wisdom went the distance for Granada and Derby respectively. Granada, despite losing, appear safe in La Liga's mid-table while Derby are heading to the Championship playoffs in search of promotion to the Premier League. At Stoke, Oussama Assaidi continued his return from injury, playing the final half hour of their match against Tottenham.
