Lucas and Henderson Back in Competition Ahead of Sunderland's Visit to Anfield

A long spell away from the first team for Lucas meant he and Jordan Henderson had a break from competition, but with both healthy for the run-in they're picking up where they left off in the fall.

Things got fairly heated back in October ahead of West Brom's visit to Anfield--midfield places were at a premium with Steven Gerrard a lock and Joe Allen getting back to full fitness. Jordan Henderson wasn't yet a day-in, day-out starter, and Lucas' partnership with Gerrard never got off the ground. It all led to some fierce competition between the former Sunderland player and the Brazil international, which proved to be one-sided in favor of Lucas. Poor, unlucky Jordan, who had to be consoled by starting every single match from that point on.

Thankfully Lucas is back to full fitness and ready to challenge once again, and with Gerrard's place threatened by yellow card accumulation, the focus now shifts to how well the Brazilian can work with his former adversary against all comers.
