Suso Locked in Perpetual State of Limbo as Manager Denies Italy Links

Liverpool's promising young winger may have vanished from the earth, but his agent popped up to give an update on transfer negotiations and interest from foreign clubs.

Lost somewhere in the wilds of Liverpool is a young Spanish winger who finds himself trapped in a holding pattern of not knowing where the next step in his career might lead him. Suso is not getting any playing time with Liverpool nor was he sent out on loan to get those much needed minutes elsewhere, and he continues to be at an impasse with his club.

Suso is out of contract at the end of the season, and although he entered into extension talks with the club in July, those talks soon broke down. Allegedly refusing to sign a new contract unless he was guaranteed minutes, Suso has barely featured for Liverpool this season beyond 23 minutes in a League Cup match and two appearances on the bench. It's a situation that's far from ideal for all involved, and one that prompted rumours that Suso was close to signing with AC Milan. Not so fast, says Suso's agent.

"There is no agreement with Milan," Jaume Serra told Italian website Calciomercato. "It is certainly a possibility, but for now, there’s nothing more to say. Rather, Liverpool are pushing for his renewal, so we cannot rule even this hypothesis out. At the moment, it’s too early to discuss any possibilities."

So, more of the same then. For Suso fans, it's positive that the club are still interested in securing his services for the future in spite of the alleged demands over playing time. Given how little the player has featured for Brendan Rodgers, though, the idea that Liverpool are "pushing" for the renewal is an idea that's hard to reconcile. Still, with nothing confirmed and every option still on the table, the inevitable Everyone to Napoli Because Rafa™ link was floated. Of course.

"No, I’ve never had any contact with Napoli," Serra confirmed."For now, we can rule out this possibility. There’s no interest from them."
