The Week in Comments: "Looks like we'll be one short of a treble this year"

We revisit a tiny handful of the comments made on the site in the past week.

Where Can Suarez and Liverpool Go from Here?

Where Can Suarez and Liverpool Go from Here?
Oh you silly question. Simple. Top of the table.

i wasnt born into being a liverpool supporter, i chose them, and one of the main reasons i chose them (beyond that second half in 05) was that you expect more from liverpool. from the fans, from the players, from the managers, from the club itself. its not just another plastic robot of a club. so, i do not accept the notion that all players are plastic robot players, and we should just accept them as such into our plastic robot hearts.

it might be a faulty way to support a club, based on some colder reasoning, but to paraphrase what a great man once said (and apply it to being a sportsfan): we should take pride that even though the rest of the (football) world may disagree, we still believe (LFC) to be a beautiful place.

Johnson Returning Soon, But For How Long?

Something about Glen's status at the club doesn't sit well with me..

This article epitomises what i mean.. i can’t quite put my finger on it.
Its like, he’s a senior player – but never in the discussions for captaincy.
Hes a top player – but never in the running for our MOTM, players of the month/season awards
Hes one of a small pool of quality RBs – but we cant justify keeping him on high wages.
Hes a committed performer and all round nice guy – but not one we’ve taken to our hearts particularly, doesn’t have a song etc

So what’s the problem here? Ashley Cole is forever on high wages and hes older. Im sure the likes of Baines will be comfortable well into his 30s too.
Is there anything wrong with giving GlenJo that last big deal and having him see out his prime at LFC? I don’t think so

Rodgers Confirms: Suarez Ready to Take a Bite out of United

Johnny Luken: *Yawn* cant people mix it up with the puns a bit?
Show a bit more canine do attitude so to speak?
Xabulani: that whole joke is getting a little long in the tooth
Khaine: Aye, it's no joking matter
that we might need Suarez to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat
John Barnes's Thighs: I reckon he’s just the mandible for the job.
TwoRonnies: we need him back
after Saturday’s toothless performance
BrooklynHorn: Don't know how fit he'll be...he's spent most of the last 6 weeks alone in his room masticating.

Manchester United 1, Liverpool 0: First Thoughts

Looks like we'll be one short of a treble this year.

— jack's complete lack of surprise, whose comment and username combo manage to be both optimistic and pessimistic at the same time
maninblack: Kolo is Everywhere, all the time
nihil in moderato: the Alpha and the Kolomega
Geoff Twentyman: Kolomnipresent!

Match Preview: Sunderland v. Liverpool, 09.29.13

he'll get time
Because next season we’ll be inthe Champion’s League so he’ll get plenty of chances to play.
Yep that’s what I said. Watch this space

— janeytee, ever optimistic about Suso's future

Sunderland 1, Liverpool 3: Suarez Brace in Bumpy Win

But we beat Manchester United! Surely they’re in the top... I see.

— sc82491, on the suggestion Liverpool have not beat many Top Ten teams yet

steve.b.jensen with a lovely and lengthy assessment on what Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool are building. Luis Suarez Dentist on whether or not Stevie's position is killing him.

Staff Comment of the Week

Joe Allen Out Indefinitely with Hamstring Injury

Further compounding matters is that we totally blew it. And Liverpool lost on what was supposed to be a day of celebration. Everything is truly the worst. For shame.
