Spain win 7-6 on penalties

This was roundly viewed as one of the best matches of the summer as far as internationals go despite the scoreline, and the penalty shootout delivered as well, with Spain winning 7-6 after Leonardo Bonucci missed his effort. From a Liverpool perspective the only connection was Pepe Reina on the bench, though former squad members Alberto Aquilani and Alvaro Arbeloa both netted a penalty before Bonucci's miss. It's now on to the final against Brazil on Sunday, where they'll look to become the holders of a third major international trophy.

Also, Candreva and Pirlo. Woof.

Spain U20s 2: Alcacer 22', Jese 55'
France U20s 1: Vion 90'

Suso came on at the half with Spain up 1-0, and they added another through Jese--with Suso earning the assist--before France clawed one back in the 90th minute. Spain now move on to face Nigeria, who finished second in Group B behind Portugal. It's likely that Suso will get the start after spending the first 45 minutes on the bench, and there's been little to suggest that Spain's role as favorites is anything other than justified.
