Fabio Borini Rushed To Hospital

Best wishes to Fabio Borini and a quick recovery from whatever has befallen the Italian striker.

Scary news from Cardiff City, as Fabio Borini has been taken to the hospital after reportedly collapsing at halftime during Sunderland's away match.

Borini had been ill during the first half according to some observers, and it was initially thought that his withdrawal from the match at the half was just to get a healthy player on the pitch. Then the reports of his collapse came shortly after the match resumed.

An update moments ago indicate that Borini has regained consciousness and is on an IV drip at the hospital. Further details are currently unavailable, but we will keep you updated as more information is released.

UPDATE: Sunderland manager Gus Poyet spoke about Borini after the match ended. According to him, the club is hopeful that Borini will be able to fly home with the team. He characterized the issue as "nothing serious", though the widely reported loss of consciousness that lasted until Borini reached the hospital would indicate at least some degree of seriousness.

UPDATE 1530 EST: Sunderland have released a simple statement on Borini. No updates as to his current condition or when he'll be released yet.
