Dalglish Worries for Defenders Set to Face Suarez

With Luis Suarez in some of the best form of his career, Kenny Dalglish is enjoying what he sees—though he doesn't imagine the English defenders who will have to face him at the World Cup are enjoying it quite as much.

The problem with scoring four goals against Norwich City is that then everybody expects five the next week. Though even if Luis Suarez' outing against West Ham only saw the striker add a single marker to his tally—along with forcing a pair of goals that have officially been recorded as own goals for West Ham defenders—a pair of goals after the FA credited Suarez' late, deflected effort to him (HT: flshred), it was another in a long line of impressive performances this season.

Amongst those watching on and enjoying what they're seeing Suarez do on the pitch is Kenny Dalglish, who was in charge when Suarez first arrived at Anfield for from Ajax. He's also looking ahead to next summer's World Cup, though he doesn't think what many of the England national team's supporters and players are seeing from Suarez will be filling them with joy over the holidays.

"I would have thought that when the World Cup draw was made," he told LFCTV, "there were a few English defenders thinking 'Oh no, I've got to play him again—it's bad enough twice during the season.' You couldn't write the script. People glossed over the second goal he scored against Norwich because of the brilliance of the other three, but the technique for the second goal was fantastic as well.

"Luis has been fantastic. He's a great entertainer and he's a humble guy. He's somebody that really enjoys working in training, he is never a problem in training. And he's fantastic on the pitch. It's a real joy to see him play sometimes. The goals he has scored have been hugely influential on the position that Liverpool are holding in the league at the moment."

While his performances might not be doing much when it comes to hopes for England's chances at next summer's World Cup, they've certainly made Liverpool's better, and if on Sunday he can keep up his form against a Tottenham side that hasn't hit the highs many were expecting of them when the season started the club will have a very good chance of ending the first half of the season in the top four.
