Wednesday Open Thread: Yet More Awkward Champions League Staring Edition

Action's already underway in Russia, with Manchester City visiting CSKA Moscow on a spray-painted pitch, but the rest of the day's matches get going shortly. Let's talk about them as though we're not jealous.

Manchester City's already managed a victory in Russia today, getting a Sergio Aguero brace to defeat CSKA Moscow 2-1. There's more on offer soon, with plenty of matches worth following. The most notable is in Group B, where Real Madrid will host Juventus in the day's biggest-name clash, with Galatasaray hosting Copenhagen in the group's other match. Benfica and Olympiakos face off in Group C, with both looking for separation between the other as they vie for the second spot behind PSG. In Group A, Sami Hyypia's Bayer Leverkusen are visited by Shakhtar Donetsk, and with a win they'd be no lower than second place. The other fixture in the group is Manchester United and Real Sociedad, which will hopefully turn out as well as the last time a team from the Basque Country visited Old Trafford in European competition:
