The Europa League hasn't been discussed much as an opportunity for silverware, but rather a chance for development and displaying worthiness of being involved in regular first-team football. And for Brendan Rodgers, the immediate future is as good a chance as any to get a look at some of those who'll be involved in Liverpool's plans long term. "It gives the younger players hope. They always feel that they can get into the squad or be around the squad, but for that they need to show they have the fight and personality to be in the team and that is what we're going to find out over the next few weeks."
