U19s Get Double from Adorjan but Lose Opener to Inter

Liverpool's NextGen Series campaign started today in Italy, with Inter edging out Rodolfo Borrell's squad 3-2. Krisztian Adorjan--who was very good against the Chelsea U21s last Friday--got both goals for Liverpool, first an equalizer from the penalty spot after Jerome Sinclair was fouled, and next to bring the visitors within a goal from a free kick. An equalizer never came, though, and Liverpool will now have to wait until mid-November and their home date with Rosenborg for a chance to earn their first points.

Given the amount of younger talent traveling with the senior squad this week there was a limited pool from which Borrell could draw; Andre Wisdom, Adam Morgan, and Suso were all included in the squad for the competition, and all three were heavily involved in last season's run. Their absences allowed for Sinclair, who turns 16 tomorrow, to start, and along with Adorjan, Borrell had a handful of experienced names (relatively speaking) to call upon, with Tyrell Belford, Ryan McLaughlin, Stephen Sama, and Brad Smith making up four of the back five, and Jordan Ibe--who appeared during the North American tour--Marc Pelosi, and Craig Roddan rounding out the midfield.

We'll try to give the competition a bit more attention as it progresses, but with today's match sort of sneaked up on us a little bit and viewing options proved difficult. In general we'd like to give increased coverage to the youth setup, particularly as the ties grow between the senior squad and the academy. We'll be undergoing a few changes at the site in general over the next few days and weeks, but that'll be an area we'll look to grow.

As always, if anyone has any further insights on the match feel free to share in the comments, and we'll try to add highlights later on as they become available.
