Pep Segura Leaves Liverpool

A very brief note from Tony Barrett at the Times that Pep Segura, who was hired to take over the academy in March of 2011 after the club released previous boss John McMahon, has left Liverpool. Not any further news about the reasons for the exit right now, but plenty of talk about how the club's decision not to hire Roberto Martinez played a large part in Segura's decision. This is, at least in the short-term, a step backwards for the youth setup, as Segura had a hand in bringing structure and stability to what had previously been a calamity. Hopefully the work he's accomplished is sustainable enough that whomever the club brings in can continue the fine work that's been done over the past few seasons.
