Out of nowhere, Liverpool announce the signing of SC Heerenveen winger Oussama Assaidi, a 24 year-old Moroccan international, with the deal subject to a medical. There isn't really any reaction other than surprise right now given that there's been, at least to my knowledge, few if any links to the player since the summer began. If this was the "behind the scenes" work that Brendan Rodgers referred to earlier in the day, then I guess it's job done.
I can only speak for myself in saying that I know very little about the player other than what's included on the official website's announcement, and the only bits I have seen are a result of watching the YouTube video they included in the announcement. No telling what this means for the links with Cristian Tello, but with many clamoring for a winger to add to the mix--even if one isn't necessarily required in Rodgers' setup--this looks to be at minimum some depth in the wide areas.
For those who are a bit more familiar, and Noel very well may be one of those (in which case, SAVE ME), we'd love to hear what you know about Assaidi, so please chime in with anything you have to offer. In the meantime we'll do some scrambling to get up to speed, but for now we'll just say welcome and best of luck.
Also, different video to get a feel for him from something who thought he was going to Ajax. Welcome to everywhere:
