Dalglish: No New Senior Players

With Liverpool set to face Wolves on transfer deadline day, there was always some worry on our end as to how we'd manage to fit in both match coverage and any last-minute transfer insanity. Turns out that the club and Kenny Dalglish were fully sympathetic to our concerns, as today the official site put out a brief statement from Dalglish that under no circumstance will any new senior players be brought in before midnight in Paris on Tuesday. So all those people hoping for a last second bombshell involving Edinson Cavani or Mauricio Isla or Andy Carroll can either breathe a little easier or work themselves up into a moderately annoyed state as applicable.

Kenny Dalglish is adamant that Liverpool will conduct no business in what is left of the transfer window.

The boss expects no new additions to the first-team squad at Melwood before the window closes on Tuesday night.

He said: "There'll be nothing happening here in the transfer window, in or out.

"There's no need to ask any questions about transfers or speculation or anything else."

And so concludes the dullest and least interesting transfer window in recent memory, at least for Liverpool. Given that in the past the official site hasn't put stories up about new youth signings, there's every chance that the first official word anybody will hear of Sporting's Joao Carlos Teixeira will be when he scores a goal for the reserves, though in any case he isn't a player ready to make a difference in where the club ends the season. As such, it appears as though it will be up to last year's big money signings to fully and finally come good for the club to have any kind of shot at the top four finish John Henry called the club's minimum goal for the season back in the summer.

On that front, we'll be back in a little bit to get you ready for tomorrow's match against Wolves, fingers and toes crossed for a continuation of the determination and effort shown over the past two games instead of a dreaded return to the sub-par form often shown against lower league opposition.
