More surprising than the omission of Andy Carroll from the starting eleven is the inclusion of Glen Johnson---maybe I hadn't been reading the right things, but I was unaware that he was this close to fitness. I suppose that's Jack Robinson's run at left back done and dusted for the season, even though he makes the bench. The names selected in midfield mean the diamond we see last week is entirely possible, with plenty of overlap and interchange among Meireles, Maxi, Kuyt, and Suarez.
