Links! and Self-Flagellation

New, comments

I'm a horrible blogger. I have nothing prepared for you and was counting on Ed to save the day, but I suspect he's tied up in meetings so you get some linkage catnip for the time being. I know, I know, I'm too good to you.

* It's official: Martin Broughton plans on stepping down now that the sale is complete and will be moving on to a sports investment firm (no, I don't have the slightest clue what that is, either) owned by his son.

* The latest take on NESV and John Henry from a life long Red Sox fan:

Henry and his group were considered foreigners to Bostonians when they arrived in 2002. The Sox were locally owned for a long time, and though Henry had been a baseball owner before – he owned the Florida Marlins from 1999 to 2001 — fans feared that the team had fallen victim to foreign occupation.

You probably know how it goes from there by now, but it's still a good read, and it's reassuring to keep seeing these sorts of things while remembering that Hicks and Gillett never got such glowing endorsements from followers of their previous clubs.

* And in the run up to the sale to NESV, there was talk of the executive whose offices in Boston were hung with Liverpool red rather than the Red Sox equivalent, and who had actually been in the crowd at Istanbul. Now we're starting to hear a little bit more about him.

Well, there you go, then. Ed or I will try to be by later with something more substantial to carry you through to when the Napoli preview goes up at its regular mid-day time tomorrow.
