League Championship Suddenly Doable?

trophyAs I was searching for news, giggling about how funny it was that Portsmouth is the only Premier League team left in the FA Cup, I happened to bring up the league table. With 9 matches left to play, we sit only 10 points behind Arsenal. I know it's not likely, but damn, is it doable?

It would probably take a run at the table like Real Madrid pulled off last season, but I think it's no longer a pipe dream to say that the number one spot is out of reach. With the current momentum, Liverpool and Everton continue to rise, while Arsenal, Manchester United, and especially Chelsea, have slowed down their progression. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Chelsea slide into 5th by the end of the season. That would definitely mean the end of Avram Grant. Blasphemy you say? Only two points separate them and the Merseyside duo.

With the club's current form, and having won the last four league games, I don't think it's out of the question at all to say that we have many more points coming to us. Sure we have to play Arsenal and Man U in the not so distance future, but wins over them is exactly what we need to slow them down.

It's going to be very interesting to see how the rest of this season plays out. I don't think we'll know who the champions will be until the last week. It may not be Liverpool, but suddenly it's a possibility.
