And so the man crush on Fernando Torres continues to grow. I really thought this match was going to be high scoring after Torres came up with a brilliant shot only 7" into the first half giving him his 28th club goal. Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, that would be the only goal for the rest of the game.
The Reds dominated the first half and had several opportunities on goal that were very close. Gerrard hit the post on one attempt and Babel nearly connected on a brilliant cross from Riise. Babel actually seemed timid in his play. He was taking too many touches before passing or shooting which gave time for the Toffees to line up their defenders. Everton came out with more force in the second half, but was unable to break the Reds' defense.
Not terribly exciting to watch, but it was a win in an important game. You can't complain too much about that. Hopefully, this will give the boys the spring they need in their step when facing Arsenal for part I of III. Upcoming schedule: Arsenal on Wednesday, 3 days later, play Arsenal, and then 3 days later, play Arsenal. After the next week, we should be really good at playing against Arsenal.
